Facilities

We have recreational areas which include a games room for table tennis, snooker, darts, and board games, and a common room with BFBS TV, DVD and video and a kitchen. The boarders can have access to the gymnasium, the library and the fitness suite as well as the outside football pitch, tennis and basketball courts. Each of the corridors has a kitchen and lounge seating area with a TV to which Playstation or Wii can be connected. The computers in the Boarding Lodge can access the school intranet and the internet so boarders can continue with extra prep if they wish or use social networks to contact friends and family during the later evening.

The team of staff who support the Lodge include: The Acting Headteacher in charge of boarding, 2 House Parents, a matron, a caretaker, two school nurses and Visiting Tutors drawn from teaching and support staff.

All staff have been checked and approved as ‘appropriate adults’ to work closely with children. Every evening, there is a team of staff who are responsible for the supervision, welfare and safety of the children. The staff organise prep-time for homework, trips to local venues or attractions, or provide the opportunity for boarders to relax in a structured posiitive way that encourages social development.

Visiting Tutors sleep in rooms adjacent to the young people and are responsible for any overnight emergencies. Boarders are encouraged to set their own alarm clocks but the staff will ensure that everyone is up and about in time to get to breakfast on time wearing the correct/appropriate clothing.
