Uniform
Dress Y7-11
- Plain, tailored trousers for boys and either plain tailored trousers or skirts for girls. Trousers or skirts should be black. Jeans, corduroys and tight fitting trouers are not allowed. Black tailored shorts may be worn in
the summer when weather is warm.
- A plain white shirt or blouse with sleeves and a collar must be worn. Shirts and blouses must not have logos, pictures, writing or patterns. Shirts and blouses should be smart at all times and should ensure coverage of midriff. Smart polo shirts are permitted. Underwear must not be visible.
- A plain black jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt may be worn. These must not have logos, pictures writing or patterns unless they are the ‘official’ sweat shirts. (Available for purchase from the school.) Hoods are not permitted.
- Plain, sensible footwear in black should be worn. Heavy boots, clogs (i.e. backless shoes), high heeled or platform shoes (over 5cm) are not suitable and should not be worn. White or multicoloured training shoes may not be worn except for P.E. or outside during breaks. A warm outdoor coat will be required for colder weather.
- Jewellery should be discreet and kept to a minimum. All jewellery needs to be removed for P.E. and consequently, if students wear discreet, pierced jewellery they should ensure that piercing takes place at appropriate times so that removal is possible. Facial Piercings are not allowed. The school is not responsible for expensive items brought into school.
- Makeup, including nail varnish, should be discreet, natural colours. Hairstyles should be sensible, avoiding extremes of fashion and a natural colour. Long hair must be tied back for P.E. and other practical situations.
PE Kit
- For P.E. lessons students should wear plain black shorts or tracksuit bottoms, a blue school rugby style shirt and/or a plain navy polo shirt. (Rugby shirts and polo shirts with the school name can be purchased from the school.)
- For years 7-10 football boots and shin pads are required for safety reasons, this also applies to Y11,12&13 opting for football.
- All students require training shoes for P.E. lessons. There is no colour stipulation, however, parents should give careful thought to the sturdiness of the trainers they buy. There are many ‘fashion trainers’ on the market that are not intended for rigorous exercise and will not give students sufficient support for P.E. lessons. If in doubt consult the subject leader for P.E.
- After some lessons a shower will be needed and a towel required. Students will be informed when this is necessary.
- For those students who take part in inter-school rugby gum shields are required.
- Swim wear may be needed at various times.
